Innovative bird dispersal system launched at IceFish
Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition exhibitor, Fuglavarnir, has launched numerous innovative bird dispersal solutions, which were showcased at IceFish last week.
Used, and constantly undergoing improvement, in the UK for over 20 years, Fuglavarnir's solutions are being used in Iceland to protect fishing vessels from flocks of unwanted birds as well as nesting birds.
The Scarecrow Bio Acoustic System broadcasts an alarm distress call which provides successful bird dispersal and helps protect birds. Many systems have been tried and tested in Iceland in the past to try to alleviate this problem, including using string ties and shooting the birds.
Whilst this innovative solution has been used in the UK for the past 20 years, it has only recently been introduced into Iceland and already there has been a great deal of interest shown.
