Egersund Island supplies new workboat for Laxar fish farms

A new 6m workboat will soon be on its way to work fish farms in Reydarfjordur, in the east of Iceland. Gunnar Gunnarsson, Head of Farms at Laxar hf, and Benedikt Stefansson, Sales & Procurement at Egersund Island, shook hands on the deal at Icefish 2017 this week.

Egersund Island, part of the AKVA Group, is known as a total supplier of trawling equipment to fishing fleets and equipment for the fish farming industry worldwide; the company’s robust and durable workboats are ideal for the aquaculture sector.

Laxar is an up and coming company in the aquaculture sector which is a relatively new industry in Iceland and seen as an area of potentially significant growth. The new boat will go straight into build and, with an 8-week lead time from customer order to delivery, will arrive at the Laxar Reydarfjordur site well in time for Christmas.
